Proper Ventilation: How Long You Should Ventilate Urgently in Every Season
Quelle: CHIP (Glomex)
Opening the bedroom window in the morning has many benefits. Fresh air not only helps wake you up, but also reduces the risk of mold. Moisture is released into the air at night, increasing humidity by about five to ten percent. To avoid this problem, it is recommended to ventilate by opening windows wide and cross-ventilating every morning. In the bedroom, it can also be helpful to ventilate twice in a row. Textiles like bedding retain moisture, which is only removed by ventilating again. The duration of ventilation depends on the season: Spring 10 to 20 minutes, Summer 20 to 30 minutes, Autumn 10 to 20 minutes, and in Winter 3 to 10 minutes. "Double ventilation" is particularly effective in winter. First, open the windows with the heating turned off to exchange humid indoor air for dry outdoor air. Then close the windows for 20 minutes and turn the heating back on so that the dry, warm air absorbs moisture from the bedding. Finally, ventilate a second time with the heating off to remove the remaining moisture.
