From April 03 - 06, the alpine ski racers gather for the season finale, specifically for the 2025 International German Alpine Ski Championships in Axamer Lizum (AUT). On the second day, the speed discipline Super-G was on the schedule, where there was a surprise for both women and men. After Kira Weidle-Winkelmann convincingly won the downhill race on the first day, she starts as the favorite for victory in the Super-G again. In the end, the Starnberg native only secures second place, losing out to Lena Dürr. The technical specialist, who actually feels most comfortable in slalom, surprisingly clinches the title with a lead of 25 hundredths of a second. Dürr managed to secure second place after a mixed season with a total of four podium finishes at the slalom in Sun Valley. The 33-year-old participated in a total of eight World Championships and in 2022, she celebrated her biggest sporting success in Beijing: silver in the team event at the Olympics. Fabiana Dorigo finished third with a gap of 1.06 seconds. Thus, the podium remains in German hands at the International German Championships on this day. In the men's event, South Tyrolean Florian Schieder (ITA) takes first place with a lead of 0.06 seconds. The title of German champion goes to 18-year-old Benno Brandis. He had won the Junior World Championship title in Super-G in Tarvisio at the beginning of March. Third in the race and second in the German Championship was 20-year-old Lukas Krauß. For the veteran Romed Baumann, as on the previous day, it is not enough for the title, and he finishes third.
