Tularaemia, also known as rabbit fever, is spreading further in Germany. Recently, it was detected again in hares in Lower Saxony. Transmission from animals to humans is rare but has increased in frequency in recent years. According to the database of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), a total of 197 infections in humans were recorded nationwide in 2024. Hunters in particular should be cautious.
