Big Air GKA Kite World Champion crowned in Barcarès (FRA)

Quelle: WORLD OF FREESPORTS (Glomex)

Over the weekend, the best Big Air kitesurfers in the world gathered in the south of France – including the 15-year-old Bavarian Finn Flügel. After finishing third in the first Big Air World Cup of the season, held in Jericoacoara (BRA) in November 2024, Finn Flügel was among the favorites. The GKA Lords of Tram event in Barcarès crowned the world champions. Both World Cups count equally towards the standings. Unfortunately, Finn Flügel's journey ended in the 3rd round. He scored the lowest points in Heat 1 with 19.20 points out of the 4 participants in his heat. Perfect conditions provided a breathtaking air show with jumps up to 25m high in the most spectacular kitesurf discipline, Big Air Twin Tip. The perfect conditions were due to the Tramontana wind, blowing offshore from the snow-capped Pyrenees over the Barcarès lagoon. In the women's competition, Brazilian Mikaili Sol emerged victorious – she was the best in both Jericoacoara and now in Barcarès, rightfully winning the world title. In the men's competition, Italian Andrea Principi won the Lords of Tram event, and Spaniard Lorenzo Casati took second place. With this second place in France, Lorenzo Casati became the new GKA Big Air Twin Tip Kite World Champion.
