Since the beginning of the 20th century, many villages and cities have been decorating the fountains with eggs, flowers, and garlands every Easter. The reason: People celebrate the water because it is believed to have particularly high healing and blessing powers at this time. The tradition originally comes from the Franconian Switzerland. The village of Bieberbach even made it into the Guinness Book of Records with its Easter fountain. More than 10,000 eggs adorn it annually. Each one is hand-painted. Countless small unique pieces create a huge artwork.
